Bay Glo-Lites FAQ's
Our products cover the requirements set by the National Electric Code. Safety First. Any underwater light you buy should be built within the rules set by the NEC. Keep in mind these rules were set forth for your safety and product reliability.
There are several light companies selling UW lighting products using inferior components and clearly not within the NEC or approved for submersion.
All of our bulb housings are pressure tested prior to assembly
Do they attract fish?
Yes, The light emitted covers a spectrum of light that attracts bait fish and its natural to conclude that larger predators will follow.
How do you prevent growth from covering the bulb?
Aquatic growth is controlled by always leaving the light plugged in and power to them. The bulbs we use are HID bulbs that emit UV light which prevents any foreign body from adhering to the glass. The base is also coated with a clear antifouling.
What do we do if a bulb breaks?
In the case of bulb breakage the GFCI will trip and power will be secured to the light. Unplug the light. The bulbs can be removed and replaced. You just order another bulb from us.
At what depth can the lights be put in?
We recommend having them at a depth where boats traffic will not run the risk of hitting them. A depth of 4 to 6 feet from the surface is recommended for ideal viewing.
Determine the light length.
To determine the length you need, please add the distance from the power head to the bottom of your waterway to the distance out from the dock you want the light.
